FOREST GIRL 2
You were the forest green, the leaf and the vine,
when I once needed hope, I looked, it was mine,
my summer rain who cooled each blade of burning grass,
a welcome bit of spring, when winter wouldn't pass.

The forest folk still sing of you and your light,
each faery knows how much you glow in the night.
If I'd not been so close to death, I'd not have seen,
the way you smiled, and made the forest warm and green.

Some nights the winds still blow a gale through my trees,
but I can ride the storm on your memories,
and what I have is something I can call upon,
remembering your love, although your love is gone.

The forest whispers to be still, she must sing,
your friends all listen, but they hear not a thing.
I cling to everything you've ever meant to me,
and cherish that first moment love could never be.
